Well, the weeks passed. The two barely spoke, but neither understood why. Things seemed awkward. A wall of silence mounted. Fortunately, the two were not sentenced to a fate of star-crossed lovers. This couple had a pair of friends who were clever and ingenious. The friends contrived a movie night, during which time one friend had to leave early and the hostess “accidentally” fell asleep and was unable to wake. Martha and Trevor were again forced to talk to each other. As curfew arrived, the hostess still could not be roused from her slumber. As a result, Trevor walked Martha home.
Sure enough, an evening walk was all that was needed to bridge the silence. Before too much time had passed, a second date was set.
Trevor and Martha dared their luck and went ice skating. Remarkably, Trevor did really well skating (i.e., he didn’t fall); however, Martha was a bit more unlucky. She definitely biffed it. The results of which, though, were not discovered until much later (completely torn pants). Following ice skating, they made pizza (using corn flour a friend had mistakenly brought for hot chocolate instead of corn starch).
During the date, Martha made mention of a date idea she had read about on the internet and wanted to try since then. The idea was that the couple should take two dollars worth of pennies, go to a fountain and use the pennies to make wishes. Of course, more conversation followed. They talked of family, the mission, and different experiences.
